Leg wrappings, or winingas, were common among the Vikings. They offer warmth during the winter and keep the legs protected from brush. They also provide compression and support for the calves during work or fighting. In order to fasten your leg wraps you can use small fibulas (brooches) or simply tuck in the loose end.
