Viking Turnshoe, Natural

Handmade Viking turnshoes that were a common design during the Viking Age. They come with an adjustable toggle, just as the historical shoes. The upper leather is thin and soft, whilst the soles are thick and sturdy and covers the heel offering extra durability. Measurements of each size are found in the size guide.Ā

The leather is natural color and untreated. The shoes can beĀ treatedĀ all depending on usage, environment and climate. Apply leather oil to protect them, which will darken them considerably and give them an authentic Viking Age appearence.

  • Material:Ā Cow hide
  • Color: Natural
  • Thickness of leather sole: 5-6 mm

  • Due to the new regulations for US packages shipped from abroad, this product will be subject to checks from FDA, FWS and/or APHIS.
This could lead to short delays on orders containing this item.
Grimfrost will, however, cover all associated costs of these shipments such as import taxes, tariffs and inspections.

Historical shoes obviously do not compare to modern shoes in terms of durability or comfort. Avoid using them a lot on modern surfaces, such as concrete, asphalt, gravel and so forth that can wear down the sole.Ā It is also possible to fit them with insoles to increase durability, comfort and isolation from water and cold. Vikings would have traditionally used thicker wool socks.
